Degree and Certificate Programs
UMBC offers several program options including graduate certificates and degree programs at the Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Ph.D. level. The table below is a subset of UMBC’s degree programs. Our engineering and computer science undergraduate programs are ABET accredited.

Notes:
- UMBC has a transfer agreement with National Defense University for Cybersecurity and Computer Science courses at the Master’s level.
- The Cybersecurity certificate program focuses on strategy, policy, and management. The Cybersecurity Master’s in Professional Studies program, which includes the certificate program content, additionally encompasses the technological and scientific aspects of Cybersecurity.
Information Assurance Concentration
Students pursuing a regular degree program may complete a concentration in Information Assurance. As part of the regular degree requirements, each student must include four approved core courses in information assurance with a grade of B or higher. Upon completion of these four courses and the usual degree requirements, the Dean of the College of Engineering and Information Technology will write a letter of recognition that the student has completed the requirements of a track of study in Information Assurance at UMBC. Typically, the four information assurance courses will count towards the usual degree requirements.
The graduate concentration in Information Assurance must be fulfilled through courses at the graduate level (at most one of the four courses may be at the undergraduate level). The undergraduate concentration in Information Assurance may be fulfilled through courses at both the undergraduate and the graduate level.
To apply for a letter of recognition, please contact the CISA Director and provide a copy of your UMBC transcript and a list of the four core Information Assurance courses that you have taken with grade B or higher at UMBC.
Cybersecurity Training and Certifications
In addition to the Cybersecurity graduate program, UMBC Training Centers delivers high-quality non-credit Information Security training programs to develop new skills and prepare for valuable industry and professional certifications. These non-credit courses are offered through UMBC Continuing and Professional Studies.
