Social Engineering

Presented by Rick Carback and Allen Stone

Introduction

Social Engineering is a technique used to trick individuals into unknowingly revealing sensitive information or complying with certain wishes. This works by exploiting the natural tendency of people to trust others at their word. The scope of this activity ranges from simple information gathering to unauthorized access. The primary defenses used against social engineering are training users about security policy and later testing that policy to make sure it is being followed.
